Online Surveys Are Not a Valid Second Income Stream – But I’ll Surprise You With What Is!

I cannot stress this point enough – Online Surveys are not a valid second income stream. It doesn’t matter how you package the argument up, they are just a waste of time.

Look at it this way: the rewards are so low that it’s a waste of time, and secondly you are not building anything.

I have been a member of a well known online survey service for almost two years. I have completed hundreds of survey and have been rewarded with the grand total of £2.79! I estimate that these surveys have taken up about 6 hours of my time. So at 50p an hour, is it worth it?

Secondly, even if I was to scrape by at even £5 an hour, with a valid survey coming along at the rate of about one per week, is it worth wading through all the garbage to find it? I may be over cynical but I tend to get the impression that most of the surveys I receive are simply attempts to try and sell me something? Are you the IT decision maker for a company? No. Well this survey is not for you!

This may sound crazy but I’ve stopped doing surveys now and have started completing online competitions instead. Despite the fact that these are essentially random as opposed to supposedly targeted surveys, I’ve been having much more success. For a grand total of about 3 hours surfing I’ve won 2 books and a DVD. I immediately listed my prizes on a well known website named after a Brazilian river, and made £25 profit.
